Day 3 of 30—Never Give Up: Strengthening Your Prayer Life
Well, good morning, guys. It is day three of our 30-day prayer challenge, and I really believe that as you pray and seek the face of God, you’re going to see the benefits and reap the rewards of drawing near to the Lord. He has a great plan for your life, and today is no exception. He wants to come in and pour Himself out in you.
With that being said, let me jump into our scripture for today as we get started. It’s found in Luke 18:1, and the Bible says, “Men should always pray and never give up.” One translation says, “Always pray and do not faint.”
Come on, let’s face it: how easy is it to give up?
It’s super easy. It’s just a matter of laying down what we know to do and letting go of the right thing. It’s hard sometimes to press forward and keep going, especially when you see battles coming against you—things in your family, struggles that war against your mind. Have any of you ever faced thoughts that battle against your mind? I have. I’ve faced those things. But I also know that as I take those things to the Lord in prayer, He’s able to strengthen me, help me, and give me a reason to not quit.
This is truly one of the messages of my life: do not quit. Do not give up. Do not faint.
Because as you’re faithful to God, He will always be faithful to you. He will press in and help you. He’ll be there for you.
As we do this challenge, remember, it’s just ten minutes to get alone with the Lord. I want to encourage you today: as you do that, drop your heart’s desires, cares, and concerns on Jesus. He wants to carry those on His own shoulders.
We’re supposed to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us. You’ll find that the presence of God will become something real and tangible that develops in your life as you complete this 30-day challenge. And as you’re faithful to simply keep going and not quit, you’ll discover that the Lord shows up in renewed ways.
So here’s a question for you to reflect on today: where have you been tempted to quit, and will you bring that place to God for ten minutes today?
If there’s a spot where you’ve been tempted or felt like saying, “I just don’t know if I can do this anymore,” that’s exactly where you need to bring to the Lord during today’s ten minutes. Allow the Holy Spirit to come in, speak to your heart, and give you clarity around that situation or relationship. He’ll do that. As you cast that care on the Lord and recommit to Him—saying, “Hey, Lord, I’m not going to quit. I’m going to be faithful to you”—as you submit and give lordship to Jesus in that area of your life, you’ll sense that the Lord is going to strengthen you and come alongside you to help you.
So today, if that’s you and you’ve got one of those areas where the enemy has battled against you—whether in your thought life, family, or spiritual walk with Jesus—recommit that to the Lord. “God, I refuse to quit.” I want to take a moment to pray for you, and then if you haven’t had your ten minutes yet, go have them.
But let me pray for you. Father, I pray for my friend right now who’s in this prayer challenge. I ask that You would help them in every area where they feel tempted to give up, sit down, or stop along the way. Strengthen and help them today. I come into agreement with them in Jesus’ mighty name.
Amen. Hey, it’s awesome. I’m glad you’re with us.
