Day 4 of 30—Pray About Everything Instead of Worrying
Well, good morning, guys, and welcome to day four of our 30-day prayer challenge. I believe that God is going to make a tremendous difference in your life as you seek Him and pray. Take the time to spend those 10 minutes in prayer, because it will make a world of difference in your life as you sincerely draw close to Jesus.
Now, I want to share the scripture for today as we get started. It’s found in the book of Philippians, chapter four, verse six. To paraphrase, it says, “Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything.” Let me say it again: “Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything.”
Let me ask you a question: How many times have you worried instead of praying? “God, how am I going to fix this? God, how am I going to have enough money? God, how am I going to have enough strength?” Or maybe you think, “I’m not smart enough to handle this,” or, “I don’t have enough wisdom for this.” Or perhaps you feel like, “I don’t have the connections to make this happen,” whatever it is that needs to happen in your life.
I’ve spent countless hours worrying about things, and honestly, some of those things did not merit my worry. They never even came to pass; the bad thing I was worried about never happened. In other instances, it was right to have some concern, because there truly were issues going on.
But the bottom line is this: I’m not the one who can fix anything by worrying. I can’t change the outcome; I can’t change the problem. I literally can’t do anything about it, and neither can you.
So what are we supposed to do? Well, scripture says, “Pray about everything.” Pray about it. What does that mean? It literally means to talk to God about it, to tell Him what’s going on in your life and your heart, and say, “Look, Lord, I need your help to fix this. I need your wisdom and understanding to know what to do in this situation.” It’s simply a conversation.
As I heard my dad say not long ago, it’s to say, “Lord, what are we going to do about this?” Because it’s a co-laboring between you and the Lord. It’s not just you trying to figure it all out. Friend, it’s you and God, together. He cares about you, your needs, and your problems and concerns.
So today, instead of spending the rest of the day worrying about all the problems and how you’re going to fix them, just say, “God, how are we going to fix this? What are we going to do? What do I need to do?” I assure you, God will come alongside you, help you, strengthen you, and speak wisdom into your heart.
Let me finish with a reflection question for you today: What small thing have you been carrying that you really need to pray about as if it matters?
Whatever that thing is you’ve been holding in your heart, today is the day to drop it on Jesus. We’ve talked about this before, but this is an essential part of praying: saying, “God, I really can’t make it on my own. I’m giving this to you. Right now, it no longer belongs to me; I put it on your shoulders.” Do that today. If you haven’t taken your 10 minutes, take your 10 minutes and seek the face of the Lord.
Hey, share this with somebody, too. I challenge you to invite someone else. I know this is day four, but they can join anytime. So share this prayer challenge with them. 30-day prayer challenge. We’re going to know God better. I’m proud of you guys. We’ll see you in the next video.
