Day 5 0f 30—Call upon the Lord and He Will Answer
Well, good morning, guys. I’m so glad that you’re with me here today for the Thirty-Day Prayer Challenge. This is day five of the Thirty-Day Prayer Challenge. I’ve literally just come out of my morning prayer time, and I am so thankful for the presence of God today. I hope that you’re taking your time and spending your ten minutes with the Lord, because it’s going to make such a difference in your life.
Listen, I want to jump right into our scripture for today, which is simply this: it’s in Jeremiah thirty-three. He says, “Call to me, and I will answer you. I will show you great and mighty things that you don’t know. Call to me, and I will answer you.” I want to ask you today, are you taking the time to call on the Lord? We all have concerns. We all have things we need. We all have moments where we just need someone in our corner. And can I tell you, friend, that God is the one who longs to stand in your corner. He’s going to walk with you. He’s going to be with you. If you are faithful to call on Him, He will be faithful to answer you.
As much as I am thankful for the presence of the Lord, and as much as I know that the presence of the Lord is a real, tangible thing, you’ve got to know that as you simply pray by faith, whether you feel anything or not, it doesn’t make a difference. God promises to be faithful, and if you will simply call on Him, He’ll begin to make changes happen in your life. You know, for some of you, you need changes in your marriage. You need changes in your family. You need changes at your job, and maybe in your spiritual life. Some of you need changes in the way you think and how you feel. I’m going to tell you right now, the truth is, Jesus can make all of those changes happen, and He will. If you will press out with just the smallest amount of faithfulness to Him and continue to call on Him, continue to seek Him... That’s what He said. He said, “Call to me, and I will answer you,” Jeremiah thirty-three:three. “Call to me.”
What does that mean? Just as we talked about prayer being a simple conversation with God, this is a really simple thing, where we literally call out to the Lord and say: God, I need You. I need You in my life. I need Your presence to fill my life. God, I need wisdom. God, I need strength. God, I need You to guide the steps I take.
Friend, I’m going to tell you, He’s going to guide every one of your steps. In fact, the Bible says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,” and as you seek Him today, God will be faithful to you.
I want to leave you with a reflection question this morning, and it’s simply this: Do you truly expect God to answer, and what are you calling to Him about today?
Friend, when you come before the Lord in prayer, I want you to come with an expectant heart. I want you to truly believe He is going to answer you. So here’s what that looks like. Throughout the day today, I want you just to trust that God is going to, in some way, at some time, give you a thought, give you an impression. Maybe if you’re reading the Bible, give you a word from the Word. Maybe He’ll use an interaction that you have with someone to speak to you. But in some way, God is going to speak to your heart about the things you prayed, if for nothing less than to give you encouragement, because God is faithful.
