Day 6 of 30—Your Prayer is Powerful and Effective

Well, good morning, guys, and welcome to day six of the thirty-day prayer challenge. I want to take just a moment this morning to remind you of a powerful scripture. James five, sixteen says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” One translation says it has much power.

Friend, there is so much power in your prayer, and you might be thinking, “Well, I don’t know if I’m a righteous person or not.” Let me clarify that first. If the blood of Jesus is applied to your heart, the righteousness of God lives inside of you, not because of who you are or what you’ve done, but because of who He is and what He’s done.

So you can count on the fact that your prayer avails much. I want to emphasize this because it’s so vital: you might not see what’s being accomplished through your prayer. It may not feel like anything is moving or happening when you pray. But in the unseen realm, every single time you pray with faith and come before the Lord, things are moving and shifting.

I would even say that there is authority in your prayer. If God has set you as the head of a household, there’s authority in that prayer. If God has set you as a father, there’s authority in that prayer. If you’re married, there’s authority in that prayer. It’s not that your wife’s prayer has any less power; it’s just different. You occupy a different position. It’s not that a mom’s prayer has any less effectiveness. No, it’s just that as a dad, you occupy a different role and position.

Don’t let the enemy of your soul fool you into thinking that your prayer isn’t working or doesn’t matter. There is great power and effectiveness in your prayer. The effective prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Even when we don’t realize something’s taking place in the spirit realm, something is happening. So today, you can know with absolute assurance that there is something taking place when you pray.

Let me ask you this reflection question: If you knew that every time you prayed, things truly were happening, what would you pray about boldly today?

If you’re taking this challenge seriously and truly seeking His face, then every time you pray for ten minutes or more, God is hearing you. Every time you pray for thirty seconds, God is hearing you. If you make yourself available to Him and step out in boldness to pray about that thing, God is going to move on your behalf. I promise you, it’s about you getting closer to Jesus, but it’s also about your faith growing and knowing that God is true to His nature and character. He can’t be anything less. He is going to be faithful to you, and every time you pray, men, every time you pray, something is moving and shifting in the spiritual realm.

So today, even if you don’t see it, don’t give up. Come on, don’t give up.
