Day 7 of 30—Start Your Day with Prayer
Well, good morning, guys. This is day seven of the thirty-day prayer challenge. If you’re still with me, I’m so glad that you’re participating in this challenge and seeking the face of the Lord, because it’s going to make a vital difference in your life and in your walk with Jesus.
It’s important to read the Word, but it’s absolutely essential to begin to know Him through prayer as well.
Prayer is our vital link to God, and every time you take a moment to pray and make yourself available to the Lord, it truly does something for you, moving you forward spiritually and in the unseen realm. As you do that, you’re drawing closer to the Lord.
I want to challenge you a little further in that. You can have your prayer time at any moment during the day, and certainly, we’re not supposed to categorize things into boxes—this is my God time, and this is my work time. It all belongs to God. We’ve talked about that.
However, I want to encourage you, if you haven’t already, to take the first part of your day and spend it with the Lord.
Before you dive into the fray of problems and issues, you know, when you go to your job, you’re often confronted by people with negative mindsets or bad attitudes, and they might say things that could easily set you off. Even in other areas of our lives, whether in relationships or friendships, we sometimes find ourselves reacting instead of responding.
But when we pray at the beginning of our day, it prepares us to be responders rather than reactors.
We can approach situations from a biblical perspective, with the presence of the Lord backing us up.
Today, the Bible says in Psalm 5:3, “Each morning I bring my requests to you.” This paraphrase highlights how important it is to start our day with the Lord so that the rest of our day is not only enhanced but also graced by His presence, goodness, anointing, and the Holy Spirit, who walks with us.
He will help us as we encounter the challenges we often face. So, He says, “Each morning I bring my requests to you.”
Here’s a reflection question for you: What would it look like for you to start every morning with ten minutes of prayer?
What if you decided, “I’m not going to wait for the hardships or worries to come to me; I’m going to move forward with God and give Him the first part of my day”?
One thing I’ve done for years is dedicate my day to the Lord with a prayer I’ve prayed for decades. I won’t share my specific prayer because you need to develop your own, but I typically start with something like, “Lord, I dedicate my whole day to you and your service.” Then, I have a list of things I pray about that I dedicate to the Lord.
So, friend, I encourage you to try that. Do something along those lines: “Lord, I dedicate this whole day. I’m getting up ten minutes earlier to give that time to you, and I dedicate my day to you and your service.”
Essentially, you are setting aside your day and saying, “God, I need your help. I invite you into this journey to walk with me and help me become the person you desire me to be.”
It’s going to make a difference in your life to put God first in your daily routine. I’m so proud of you for being a part of this thirty-day prayer challenge. Share this with someone and invite them to join. We’ll see you in the next video.
